Dyserythrpoiesis

Karyorrhexis

Karyorrhexis of erythroid precursors is refined as a pyknotic nucleus with nuclear (destructive) fragmentation (an abnormal form of apoptosis) that results in cell death.

Dyserythropoiesis - Karyorrhexis
Karyorrhexis of erythroid precursor. Note the nuclear fragmentation and irregular spacing of the nuclear fragments.
Dyserythropoiesis - Karyorrhexis
Karyorrhexis of erythroid precursor.
Dyserythropoiesis - Karyorrhexis
Karyorrhexis of erythroid precursor.
Nuclear Budding
Dyserythropoiesis - Nuclear Budding
Nuclear budding (may also be undergoing karyorrhexis).
Erythroid precursor containing nuclear membrane irregularity and early budding.
Mutlinucleation
Dyserythropoiesis - Multinucleated erythorid precursor
Immature erythroid precursor with multinucleation.
Vacuolated Erythroid Precursors
Vacuolated Erythroid Precursor
Vacuolated Erythroid Precursor – Bone marrow from a 39 y/o female with zinc toxicity induced copper deficiency.
Ring Sideroblasts
Ring Sideroblasts (Iron Stain)
Erythroid precursors with ring sideroblasts (iron stain)
